| The Polish Film Festival celebrates its fifth anniversary this year. We
are approaching the age, in which one starts realising that the world is much
bigger than previously assumed. So, this year we have decided to investigate
this outside world.
In addition to our regular venues such as the Riverside
Studios, Hammersmith and Curzon
Mayfair, we will for the first time screen Polish films at the
Prince Charles Cinema in the West End, Phoenix
Cinema in East Finchley and Rio Cinema in Dalston.
Once the Polish Film Festival finishes in London, the Polish films will then
travel to Edinburgh, where they will be screened at the New Europe Film
Festival. At the same time an exhibition of Polish Film Posters will be
displayed at the Belfast Film Festival.
This year we will also go international, as the Polish film industry becomes
more global, and we will close the festival with the UK-Hungary production
Copying Beethoven
directed by Agnieszka Holland. We are delighted that there
is a growing appetite for Polish films across the U.K., and this reflects the
quality of films coming out of Poland.
Also, starting in April the British distributor Dog Woof Pictures is bringing
Polish productions to local cinemas throughout England, Scotland and Ireland, in
collaboration with the Polish Cultural Institute and the Polish Film Institute.
So wherever you are based in the UK and Ireland, soon you will be able to check
out what is new in Polish cinema. We look forward to seeing you there.
